
Introduction
The Greater Anglia Railway Franchise is introducing brand new trains to replace all the existing rolling stock in the East Anglia railway network.
Some of the new trains require fueling facilities at seven sites within the Greater Anglia railway network, one of which is the Colchester Railway Depot.
Our Involvement
IPS is appointed by Keltbray to provide E&P design for the new three phase LV supply to the proposed installation in the new refueling compound at the Colchester depot. CCTV/VSS designwas also provided forgeneral surveillance images and recordings from two digital dome cameras located on the depot Hub building.

Scope of work
Electrification & Plant
- A new LV switchboard to be installed within the proposed fuel filling compound to power supply the new fueling plant and equipment and sanding plant only.
- New LV switchboard was to be supplied from the existing 11kV/400V 500kVA transformer -1) of substation – B via the existing LV switchboard 2) located within the substation – B.
- CMS route shall be designed for the new LV sub-mains circuit cable.
CCTV / VSS
- Provision of video surveillance and recording system that will give local / remote visibility of the Fuel Depot entrance / exit and associated perimeter areas.
- The Fueling Project also identified some significant site security risks and require a CCTV/VSS system to be provided to mitigate this risk.
